This is our team visiting the Ravenstein building for a regular cleanup. The Ravenstein screen is a bit of a special bird because of the heavy foot traffic and the limited space where we can install the screen. It used to be located above the hallway, but due to various reasons, the frame it was attached to was no longer secure. The choice was made to lower it more clearly into people’s eye view near the sliding doors. Hence, the cables are not super nice — but we have to make do with what’s available. Once our maintenance check is done, the cables are properly attached and tightened again.
At FlatTurtle, we also offer maintenance services for digital signage (screens). We can visit your location at regular intervals to check the screen, remove dust and fingerprints, double-check that everything is still securely fastened, and report any issues we observe.
While we rarely encounter issues within the first five years, after that, there’s an increased chance of failure. Some start decoloring (fading or not showing vibrant colors) or show ‘stains’ (clouds or darker spots on the screen). This often indicates that the screen is (slowly) starting to fail. We then inform you and give you the choice of whether or not you’re willing to wait. Many screens will continue working for many more years, albeit with stains or decoloring, or you can plan a replacement.
We’ll properly recycle the screens if they get replaced unless you want to keep them for another purpose. Some clients use these as massive monitors for their security team, where slight decoloration does not affect their functionality—it’s just not very pretty.
We, of course, do maintenance not just for digital signage. Digital signage is the #1 request simply because it’s public-facing (and a broken or damaged screen just isn’t very pretty). But we can do the same for all our network equipment, ensuring there’s no dust buildup. We all know in IT racks there shouldn’t be any dust, but let’s face it, much of the hardware has to be installed throughout a building—not always in secured IT rooms, but often hidden in parking spaces, technical rooms near the roof, etc. This is simply because running one cable and adding a switch is more cost-effective than running 30 cables that are 100 meters long. We also check for damage, make sure all the labels are still properly attached, and ensure the racks and doors are still safely secured. If new hardware is plugged into our devices, we will do our very best to document it and understand what it does.
So while less common because it’s not as visible, we provide the same meticulous care for our networking and cabling services. Ensuring everything is in top shape helps prevent issues and keeps your operations running smoothly.
Maintaining your digital signage and network ensures longevity and optimal performance, and we’re here to help you every step of the way. Contact FlatTurtle for reliable and thorough digital signage maintenance services.
